Karnataka TET Exam Pattern

Like any other TET Exam, Karnataka TET also has two papers conducted for eligibility.

  • Paper 1 qualification makes a person eligible to teach classes I to V.
  • Paper 2 qualification makes a person eligible to teach classes VI to VIII.

Paper 1 Exam Pattern

Paper 1 Exam Pattern for Karnataka TET consist of topics on Child Development, Basic Math and Environment. Language 1, being Kannada and Language 2, being English is also covered. The total number of questions from each topic is 30, carrying equal marks, that sum up to a total of 150. Total time provided for the exam is 150 minutes that is 2 hours 30 minutes. The questions remain relevant to the syllabus of the NCERT / State for classes I – VIII.

Paper 2 Exam Pattern

Paper 2 Exam Pattern for Karnataka TET consist of topics on Child Development, Basic Math and Environment. Language 1, being Kannada and Language 2, being English is also covered. The total number of questions from each topic is 30, carrying equal marks, that sum up to a total of 150. The questions remain relevant to the age group of 11-14 years.

*The Test items in Language I will focus on the proficiency of the language related to the medium of instruction.
**The Test items in language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.

Note: Language I and II will be different from each other. Candidates may choose one of the languages available from the options mentioned in the form.

LANGUAGE OF THE QUESTION PAPER: The medium of question paper other than the languages shall be in English, Kannada, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.

Karnataka TET Syllabus

Qualifying Marks in KARTET Exam

  • In the case of General category, candidates who have scored more than 60% will be considered eligible for the exam.
  • For SC/ST/C-1, differently-abled persons, 55% marks will be considered eligible.
  • No GRACE MARKS will be given to any of the questions deleted.
  • The Validity Period of KARTET qualifying certificate will be for seven years from the date of declaration of its results.
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a KARTET Certificate

Karnataka TET Marking Scheme

  • +1 for each correct answer.
  • All questions carry equal marks.
  • There is no negative marking in the Karnataka TET exam, like any other Teachers eligibility test.
