IAS Exam Date 2020
The official IAS Exam Date 2020 has been declared in advance. The date of Preliminary examination is 31st May 2020 and the Mains Exam Date is 18th September 2020. The conducting body, UPSC, is in full preparation of the exam. Hence, candidates must also buckle up their preparation level and get ready with requirements of the form.

UPSC IAS Eligibility Criteria
UPSC IAS Eligibility Criteria includes the fulfilment of Nationality conditions, age limit, educational qualifications and number of attempts. Before a candidate applies for IAS Exam 2020, it is important that he/she is aware of the eligibility criteria beforehand.
- Nationality- Indian Citizenship
A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan OR
A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement OR
A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India OR
Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favour. - Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a degree(Graduation) of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University
- Age Limit:
Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August 2020
He or she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1988 and not later than 1st August 1999. - Age Relaxation: Up to a maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled caste or Scheduled Tribe OR
Up to a maximum of 3 years in case of OBC Category reservation OR
Up to a maximum of 3 years in case of Defence Services Personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof OR
Up to 5 years in case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August 2020 and have been released OR
Up to a maximum of 5 years in case of ECOs/ SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st August 2020 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on 3 months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment OR
Up to a maximum of 10 years in case of (a) blindness and low vision; (b) deaf and hard of hearing; (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; and (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness. OR
Up to a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st day of January 1980 to the 31st day of December 1989. - Number of Attempts- Every candidate appearing at the examination, who is otherwise eligible shall be permitted six attempts at the examination.
UPSC IAS Syllabus & Exam Pattern
UPSC IAS Syllabus & Exam Pattern is a crucial piece of information for the graduate job aspirants. Not only it is a prestigious position that candidates prepare for through the syllabus, but also it will be helpful for them to brace themselves up for the upcoming vacancy.
As there are three rounds in IAS Exam namely:
- Preliminary
- Mains
- Interview
Let us look at briefly on IAS Prelims Syllabus:
Prelims round has two papers. Each of the two papers is held for 2 hours. The paper 1 has questions from GA/ GK/ Current Affairs, Quantitative Aptitude and Logic. While paper 2 has questions from Comprehension. The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English
IAS Mains Exam Syllabus
The Mains Exam comprises of Paper A and Paper B. Syllabus of Paper A comprises any one of the Indian languages selected from the Languages included in the eighth schedule of the constitution and Paper B Syllabus comprises an English test. The papers on Indian languages and English (Paper A and Paper B) will be of Matriculation or equivalent standard and will be of qualifying nature. The marks obtained in these papers will not be counted for ranking. Both of these are of 300 marks.
The Mains round is followed by the Personal Interview. Questions on matters of general interest. The object of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers.

IAS Application Form 2020 activation is from 12th February 2020. The aspirants must be active for the same to complete the form in time. Also, it is important to check the complete details to be filled in the application in order to appear for the form.

IAS Selection Process
The Selection Process for the IAS includes qualification of Prelims, followed by Mains followed by the interview. After each round’s qualification, each candidate will need to indicate the order of preferences only for those services participating in the Civil Services Examination for the year, for which he is interested to be allocated to, in the on-line Detailed Application Form-II [DAF-II]
Requirements of DAF Form: The candidates who wish to indicate IAS/IPS as their Service preference are advised to indicate all the Zones and Cadres in the order of preference in their on-line DAF-II as per the extant Cadre Allocation Policy applicable for the Civil Services Examination, 2020. With this DAF-II, a candidate will also be required to upload documents/certificates for higher education, achievements in different fields, service experience, OBC Annexure (for OBC category only), EWS Annexure [for EWS Category only], etc
Civil Services IAS Admit Card 2020
With the release of the exam date already, the admit card is released three weeks before. Thus, candidates may expect the admit card release to be in April 2020. The direct link will be provided here.
IAS 2020 Result
The result for IAS 2020 is to be declared in July 2020(tentatively). The result is released after each stage of the exam that is prelims, mains and interview results will be out separately.
